Facebook Birthdays
I am not one of those people who hates all the superficial happy birthdays they get from facebook friends that they aren’t really that close with. In fact, keep them coming because I get pretty self-indulging on my birthday. If you just found out it was my birthday because I told facebook to tell you, then by all means I welcome your birthday wishes. However, when I’m on the opposing side of the situation I become extremely hypocritical. My theory is if I wouldn’t tell you happy birthday in natural face-to-face conversation then I probably won’t tell you happy birthday on facebook. Furthermore, if your birthday pops up on facebook and I don’t recognize you or your name, then I’ll probably delete you off of my friends list. I probably do know you..you know, from that one time, but I don’t have a relationship with you. So here’s what I want to know…is that bad? Is it rude to delete someone from your friends list on their birthday? Even if the chances of them realizing you did is about zero out of a million?Â

Causal v. Correlational ft. My Hot Stuff
Contrary to popular belief, causal and correlational are not one in the same. Causal refers to a cause and an effect; however, correlational refers to the relationship between two entirely separate effects. This concept could be represented as A à B (causal), and A≈B (correlational).
In order to give an example of these two different types of relationships I would like to introduce you to my friend Grace. Grace is an ice cream fanatic, but she specifically loves Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream. Every time that she has the opportunity to purchase Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream a smile pops up on her face from ear to ear. Grace is also in love with Ryan Reynolds. In fact, every time she sees a picture of Ryan Reynolds she gets a massive smile on her face. In this example, the relationship between Grace and Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream is a causal relationship. The relationship between Grace and her future husband, Ryan Reynolds, is also a causal relationship. Therefore, the relationship between Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream and Ryan Reynolds is a correlational relationship because both make Grace smile.
